However, an exception allows you to install a splice in leads attached to electrical equipment, such as motors and solenoids.

Wires and cables (conductors) are insulated and protected by a variety of materials (insulators) each one having its own particular properties. The type of material used will be determined by the designer who will take into account the environment in which a control panel or installation is expected to operate as well as the application of individual wires within the panel.

Electrical equipment uses a wide variety of wire and cable types and it is up to us to be able to correctly identify and use the wires which have been specified. The wrong wire types will cause operational problems and could render the unit unsafe.

The float should be perfectly parallel to the upper carburetor body or sit slightly lower than level. This keeps fuel below where the two halves of the atmospheric vent meet. Also make sure your carburetor halves are not warped when the bolts are tightened down. If there is a visible gap between the two halves of the carburetor at the atmospheric vent; sand down the two halves until the gap is gone.

As a result fuel can leak in between the gasket and flow into the atmospheric vent and down into the carburetor. This also causes loss of fuel and a rich air/fuel mixture. The fuel level needs to be slightly below the bottom half of the carburetor to prevent this. Warping of the carburetor halves can also create an easier path for fuel to leak into the atmospheric vent.

As the piston in your engine moves downward it creates a vacuum which draws in air through the intake end of the carburetor. As the air travels through the venturi, the air’s pressure drops, and fuel is drawn down from the fuel bowl, and then back up through the main jet and emulsion tube. The low pressure air mixes with and atomizes the fuel. This air/fuel mixture continues through the intake valve and into your combustion chamber.
