These conductors must be yellow throughout the entire circuit, including wiring in the control panel and the external field wiring. • White or natural gray represents a grounded circuit conductor. • White with blue stripe represents a grounded DC current-carrying circuit conductor. International and European standards require you to use light blue for the neutral conductor. • White with yellow stripe represents grounded AC current-carrying control circuit conductors that remain energized when the disconnecting means is in the OFF position. For additional circuits powered from different sources that remain energized when the main disconnecting means is in the OFF position, you must use striping colors other than green, yellow or blue to uniquely identify the grounded conductors.

When your ignition switch is turned in the “start” and “run” position, the “I” or ignition terminal is energized and power flows from the battery through the primary winding of the ignition coil through the points and back to the engine ground. The primary winding of the ignition coil are the two small terminals marked + (positive) and – (negative). A small gauge wire goes from the ignition switch and connects to the + positive terminal of the ignition coil. The breaker points and condenser are both connected to the – (negative) terminal of the ignition coil. Your spark plug cable is connected to the secondary terminal which is the large wire port in the top of the ignition coil. Your spark plug is then connected to the high tension spark plug cable and screwed into your engine’s combustion chamber.

As a result fuel can leak in between the gasket and flow into the atmospheric vent and down into the carburetor. This also causes loss of fuel and a rich air/fuel mixture. The fuel level needs to be slightly below the bottom half of the carburetor to prevent this. Warping of the carburetor halves can also create an easier path for fuel to leak into the atmospheric vent.
