You are required to run conductors and cables from terminal to terminal without splices. However, an exception allows you to install a splice in leads attached to electrical equipment, such as motors and solenoids.
Soldered connections should be made only to terminals suitable for that purpose. Transformers may be fitted with turret tags suitable for soldering and printed circuit board assemblies may have solder pins.
